Who Needs to Attend the Interview and What to Expect

You must lodge your passport application in person.

Children aged 16 and 17 years need to accompany one person with parental responsibility to lodge their passport application. These applicants will be issued with a 10-year validity passport.

Children under 16 years do not need to be present when one person with parental responsibility lodges their application. The lodging parent does not need to be an Australian. Children under 16 years will be issued with 5-year validity passport.

Appointments are required for passport applications. Appointments can be booked here. You must bring a completed application form and supporting documents to your appointment. Incomplete applications are not accepted and may cause delays.

Please arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before your appointment time for security screening. If you arrive early, we may not be able to help you until your appointment time.  Passport interviews generally take 10 minutes. While we try to keep to appointment times, circumstances outside of our control may delay our schedule.
