My Australian Christmas Card Competition 2026
The Australian Consulate-General invites primary and secondary students across Hong Kong to take part in the My Australian Christmas Card Competition 2026.
This competition provides students with an opportunity to showcase their artistic talents. We invite students to create an original Christmas card design that reflects the richness, creativity and diversity of Australia.
In Australia, Christmas falls during summer. Families and friends often celebrate outdoors, whether at the beach, in a park, at home, or at community events. Christmas is a time for people to come together, share traditions, celebrate their heritage, and reflect on the values of joy, kindness, and inclusion. Every celebration is different, reflecting the cultures, traditions and stories that make Australia unique.
2026 My Australian Christmas Card theme: Australian Diversity
This year’s theme, Australian Diversity, celebrates the many cultures, traditions, communities, and experiences that shape modern Australia.
We inivite students to explore what makes Australia a vibrant, inclusive and diverse nation. Your design may be insppired by Australia's multicultural communities, Indigenous cultures, diverse traditions, unique wildlife, iconic landscapes, or the many ways Australians celebrate Christmas across the country.
We welcome creative, colourful and festive designs that capture the spirit of Christmas and reflect the diversity of Australian life. Students are encouraged to use their imagination to show how people from different backgrounds come together to celebrate friendship, community and the holiday season. We look forward to seeing your inspiring designs.
Important Dates
Submission dates: Now to 13 November 2026 (Friday)
Finalist announcement: 1 December 2026 (Tuesday)
Awards ceremony: 10 December 2026 (Thursday)
Eligibility & Categories
- The competition is open to all students from primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong.
- Each participating school must nominate and confirm its student representatives. No individual entry will be accepted.
- Students may enter in one of four categories:
A. Junior Primary (primary 1 to 3);
B. Senior Primary (primary 4 to 6);
C. Junior Secondary (secondary 1 to 3) and
D. Senior Secondary (secondary 4 to 6)
Judging Criteria
The judging panel consists of representatives of the Australian Consulate-General. Entries will be judged according to the following criteria:
- Demonstrated engagement with the theme ‘Australian Diversity’
- Creativity
- Visual design
- Originality
All entries should follow the Competition Rules and Conditions to be eligible. As the competition is intended to showcase student creativity and artistic expression, entries must not include content generated using artificial intelligence (AI) tools. We look forward to seeing the unique perspectives, ideas, and creativity that students bring to this year’s theme through their artwork.
Awards
The competition consists of the following awards for each category:
- Winner: Award Certificate plus Book Coupons valued at HK$1,800
- First runner-up: Award Certificate plus Book Coupons valued at HK$800
- Second runner-up: Award Certificate plus Book Coupons valued at HK$400
The winning design will be featured on the official Christmas card of the Australian Consulate-General Hong Kong.
How to participate in the Competition
Participants must submit their entries through their schools by 13 November 2026.

Competition Rules and Conditions
- Entries should reflect both the spirit of Christmas and the theme of Australian Diversity. Additional consideration may be given to designs that highlight connections between Australia and Hong Kong.
- The artwork can be either A4 (297 mm x 210 mm) or A3 (420 mm x 297 mm) in size and in either landscape or portrait orientation.
- The artwork may be done in pencil, crayon, felt tip, paint, or by using computer drawing or design software in 2D only. NO additional material to create 3D effects (like tinsel, glitter or sequins) is allowed.
- The competition celebrates student creativity and artistic expression. Entries must be the student’s own original work and must not include content generated using artificial intelligence (AI) tools. Schools and teachers are encouraged to ensure that submitted entries comply with this requirement.
- Each entry’s file size should be 10 mb max and must be uploaded as a JPEG or PNG with a resolution of at least 300 dpi. Participants can scan or take a clear photo of the entries for submission.
- To identify the artwork, the file name should be named in this order:
“Category-SchoolName_StudentSurname_StudentFirstName_Class”.
For example: A-AISHK_CHAN_PETER_3A.jpg
- Each participant should submit one entry only. A participant who submits more than one entry will be disqualified.
- Representatives of each school are nominated and confirmed by schools. No individual entry will be accepted.
- No substitutions or new versions of submission will be accepted under any circumstances once the original entry is submitted for consideration.
- Entries must be the participants’ original artworks that have not been published before, nor submitted for other competitions, and must not infringe intellectual property rights.
- The Australian Consulate-General reserves the right to edit, alter, publish, reuse, distribute, or exhibit the artworks in any manner whatsoever, including for publicity and educational purposes.
- Staff and their family members of Australian Consulate-General Hong Kong and any related sponsors are not permitted to participate.
- The organiser’s decisions on the competition results are final.
- All personal information collected by the Australian Consulate-General will only be used in matters relating to the “My Australian Christmas Card Competition” which includes for publicity and promotional purposes.
- The Australian Consulate-General reserves all the rights to change the competition rules, regulations, prizes and other arrangements without prior notice.
