Australian Federal Election 2019

The Australian federal election will be held on Saturday, 18 May 2019

Enrol to vote

If you are an Australian citizen aged 18 years or older you are required to vote in the federal election. You must be correctly enrolled by Thursday 18 April 2019. To enrol to vote, please click here.

Enrolment and voting by people outside Australia is not compulsory, however if you will be overseas and unable to vote on Election Day you are required to inform the AEC by completing the Overseas Notification form .  Australian citizens and dual nationals will not lose their citizenship entitlement if they do not vote in a federal election.

ELECTION DAY: Saturday 18 May 2019   9:00 am to 6:00pm

 

Postal vote 

To apply for a postal vote, please click here.  Applications close 4pm (Hong Kong Time) 15 May 2019.

Complete postal vote form in BLOCK LETTERS and return signed form to the Australian Electoral Commission not later than 15 May.  You need to allow sufficient time to receive your ballot papers, complete them and return them. All ballot papers must be completed and witnessed on or before election day Saturday 18 May 2019.
